Dolores Huerta
SJA’s 2007-2008 speaker series was fortunate enough to bring activist Dolores Huerta to SLHS. Ms. Huerta, who cofounded the United Farmworkers Union with Cesar Chavez, spoke to students about immigration, rights of farm workers, rights of women, and our responsibility to be active citizens in our communities.

The third lecture of SJA’s 2007-2008 speaker series brought us Antonio Medrano of Amnesty International. Mr. Medrano, who routinely visits Central and South America to investigate human rights abuses, spoke to our students about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, various types of abuses, and about the need to help protect all of our freedoms in the Bay Area and beyond.
